Strategic Issues

• Need to perform tracking of technology trends and healthcare delivery trends and facilitate sharing this for registry planning and deployment.



• Registry performance and evaluation milestones need to be more realistic and in greater synchronization with national/international timetables (e.g., Y2K and HIPAA).



• Continued participation in, and dissemination of information about HIPAA provisions, particularly around issues of security, confidentiality, provider/plan/patient identification, and HL7 standards.



• Increase emphasis on software sharing to resolve Humansoft users' dilemma.
