On December 30, 2025, HLN released a new version of the Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE), with support for updated COVID-19 vaccine recommendations. ICE is a state-of-the-art open source software system that provides clinical decision support for immunizations for use in Immunization Information Systems (IIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Personal Health Record (PHR) Systems.
What’s New in ICE:
- COVID-19 Seasonal: Updated intervals from a prior season Pfizer to a 2025-2026 season target dose Moderna for patients under 2 years, in line with a November American Academy of Pediatrics update.
- Core service improvements: Implemented several “under the hood” technical updates, including upgrades to Java 25, Drools 10, and OpenCDS 7.0.1. Additionally, the service can now run on Spring Boot as well as Tomcat.
