On February 4, 2026, HLN released a new version of the open-source Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) software, adding support for four travel/non-routine vaccine groups to the ICE default immunization schedule: cholera, Japanese encephalitis, typhoid, and yellow fever. ICE is a state-of-the-art open source software system that provides clinical decision support for immunizations for use in Immunization Information Systems (IIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Personal Health Record (PHR) Systems.
The latest release supports evidence-based clinical guidelines for cholera, Japanese encephalitis, typhoid, and yellow fever vaccinations. Additional technical enhancements support improved vaccine group configurability.
What’s New in ICE
- Cholera: New vaccine group with 1 series
- Japanese Encephalitis: New vaccine group with 2 series
- Typhoid: New vaccine group with 1 series
- Yellow Fever: New vaccine group with 1 series
- COVID-19 Seasonal: Addressed an issue where in limited circumstances, ICE was enforcing a 24-day absolute minimum interval from a prior season invalid Pfizer to a new season target dose rather than a 17-day interval.
- Core Service: Improved vaccine group inclusion/exclusion options; added a new property for identification of “routine” and “non-routine” vaccine groups.
