The need for clear and reliable immunization clinical decision support is increasingly pronounced in an environment with divergent immunization recommendations. As we’ve explored in our previous posts (When Vaccine Guidelines Shift, Collaboration is Key; CDS for Immunizations: Key Questions on Diverging Recommendations), navigating recent changes requires a collaborative effort. To meet this challenge head-on, HLN Consulting is excited to announce the launch of the Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) Advisory Group, with a kickoff meeting scheduled for September 29, 2025.
This group is being formed to ensure that ICE, the open-source immunization forecasting and decision support software, continues to align with clinical best practices and meet the needs of its diverse user community. By bringing together experts from across the immunization and health information technology sectors, we can enhance our collective ability to respond to the evolving landscape.
The Advisory Group, composed of leaders spanning public health, Immunization Information Systems (IIS), EHRs, and healthcare provider organizations, will focus on several key objectives:
- Provide strategic guidance on navigating the landscape and future directions
- Offer clinical expertise to clarify complex or ambiguous immunization recommendations for implementation in the ICE Default Immunization Schedule
- Guide the development of ICE by sharing user experiences and crucial implementation feedback
We believe that by bringing these diverse voices to the table, we can better understand the challenges and desires of our partners and ICE users. Together, we will navigate the changing landscape and strengthen the clinical decision support provided by the Immunization Calculation Engine.
