On September 18, 2026, HLN released a new version of the open-source Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) software with support for the 2026–2027 respiratory season recommendations issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
What’s New in ICE
COVID-19:
- Added support for the 2026–2027 season, beginning August 28, 2026.
- Recommendations for the new season begin September 2, 2026, or later, depending on applicable series intervals and patient vaccination history.
- The COVID-19 series and vaccine CVX codes from the 2025-2026 season remain applicable for the new season.
Influenza:
- Added support for the new mRNA influenza product (CVX 338).
Building on ICE’s existing support for influenza and RSV immunization recommendations, these updates align ICE with evidence-based immunization guidelines issued by AAP and AAFP for the 2026–2027 respiratory season.
