On October 5, 2026, HLN released a new version of the open-source Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) software with updates to COVID-19, meningococcal B, pneumococcal, and yellow fever vaccine logic, along with an upgrade to the core service.
What’s New in ICE
COVID-19:
- Updated Skip Dose Rule logic in the Seasonal 2-dose Series (< 2 years) to support prior-season CVX 334 doses.
- Ensured the 52-day absolute minimum interval, when needed, is calculated from the last non-ignored shot on record.
- Corrected an issue affecting patients who transitioned from the Seasonal 1-dose Series (2–64 years) to the Seasonal 2-dose Series (≥ 65 years) during the prior season.
Meningococcal B:
- Corrected the previously reported MenB 4C series selection issue involving CVX 163 followed by CVX 164.
Pneumococcal:
- Updated PCV21 logic to reflect current guidance, including removing this CVX from the pediatric series and updating its absolute minimum age.
Yellow fever:
- Updated live vaccine interval logic and supplemental text to reflect the 28-day, rather than 30-day, interval indicated in the 2026 CDC Yellow Book.
Core service:
- Upgraded ICE to Drools 10.2.
