On April 26, 2024, HLN released a new version of the Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE), with support for the new dosing interval and schedule for the MenB-4C vaccine (Bexsero) and the new Meningococcal oligosaccharide (MenACWY), (MenB) pentavalent vaccine (Penmenvy). The release also includes additional updates in the Meningococcal ACWY and the COVID-19 – Seasonal vaccine groups. ICE is a state-of-the-art open source software system that provides clinical decision support for immunizations for use in Immunization Information Systems (IIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Personal Health Record (PHR) Systems.
Version 2.46.1 includes the following updates:
- Meningococcal B: Added support for the updated dosing intervals and schedule for the Bexsero MenB-4C vaccine (ICE now supports the previous MenB-4C schedule and the updated MenB-4C schedule as of October 25, 2024). Added support for CVX 328, Meningococcal MenABCWY (Penmenvy).
- Meningococcal ACWY: Added support for CVX 328, Meningococcal MenABCWY (Penmenvy). Updated the CVX 108 vaccine name from “Meningococcal, unspecified formulation” to “Meningococcal ACWY, unspecified formulation” for additional clarity and alignment with the CDC CVX name (wiki update only; no logic changes for CVX 108).
- COVID-19 – Seasonal: Addressed an issue to ensure a vaccine group-level recommendation (rather than a CVX-level recommendation) when indicated in the rules. Additionally, addressed a rare processing error.
The ICE Implementation Guide Codes sheet has been updated to reflect the addition of a Meningococcal B series, the CVX 108 vaccine name update, the new CVX 328, and the addition of supplemental text used in Meningococcal B.
Please see the Release Notes for additional details.
Forthcoming ICE releases: Upcoming ICE releases will address changes in the Pneumococcal vaccine group and adult RSV updates from the April 15–16, 2025 ACIP meeting.
