We are excited to announce that the Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) open-source forecaster has achieved Complete Validation in the American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA) Measurement and Improvement Initiative. This designation recognizes ICE’s ability to provide accurate immunization evaluation and forecasting in alignment with national standards across all clinical decision support (CDS) measures tested. ICE is the first open-source, freely available immunization forecaster to earn this distinction.
The Measurement and Improvement Initiative, developed by AIRA in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), provides independent testing of immunization information system (IIS) capabilities across several key functions, including clinical decision support. As part of this assessment, forecasters are evaluated across core CDS concepts and vaccine groups, including evaluation status, earliest recommended date, and recommended date. Achieving Complete Validation gives organizations confidence that ICE’s forecasting logic produces accurate immunization evaluations and forecasts.
