On May 24-26, 2022 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) held a Data Modernization Workshop for jurisdictions that received the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) cooperative agreement. Organized and managed by the Public Health Informatics Institute, the virtual meeting provided the knowledge, tools, resources, and peer-to-peer collaboration jurisdictional staff needed to begin to implement their data modernization plans. This effort is part of the larger CDC Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) whose goal is to improve the systems and workforce used to support public health surveillance.
As part of the workshop, HLN’s Mike Berry presented a talk titled Interoperability Models in an Integrated Child Health Information System. This talk focused on the integrated child health information system, KIDSNET, deployed in Rhode Island, including DMI considerations from the integrated child health information system experience.
