The AIRA 2025 National Meeting did not disappoint as we came together as an IIS community in Spokane, WA (April 28 – May 1) to learn and discuss key topics of IIS modernization, sustainability, interoperability, AI and the timely concept of managing change. Contracted by ASTHO, HLN conducted data modernization site visits in Virginia, Minnesota, and Rhode Island in August and September 2024. Through presentations, exercises, and discussions, state health department participants assessed their data modernization strategy and plan to achieve the CDC’s goals and objectives. The site visits identified each agency’s approach to data modernization, challenges, and best practices. They culminated in a report of key findings and recommendations for other public health agencies to use in their data modernization journey.
